Marijana Šovran

Marijana Šovran is a soprano who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and completed her master's degree in the class of Prof. Emer. Radmila Smiljanić at the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade. She also specialized in the class of Prof. Nikola Kitanovski in 2019 at the same faculty. She received her basic and secondary music education from the "Vida Matjan" Music School in Kotor, in the class of Prof. Mirela Šćasni.

She completed the "Borislav Popović" opera studio at the National Theatre in Belgrade, after which she played several roles on the main stage in several seasons.

She completed the best summer American school of the Metropolitan Opera "ICAV" in Montreal in 2017.

Her repertoire includes the following roles: Musetta (La Bohemé, G. Puccini); Papagena and First Boy (Die Zauberflöte, W.A. Mozart); Genovieffa, Una cercatrice, Una conversa (Suor Angelica, G. Puccini); Grilleta (Lo Speziale, J. Haydn); Vitellia (La Clemenza di Tito, W.A. Mozart), Amore (Incoronazione di Poppea, C. Monteverdi); Zerlina (Don Giovanni, W.A. Mozart); Un amante (Il Tabarro, G. Puccini); Un pastore (Tosca, G. Puccini); Gilda (Rigoletto, G. Verdi); Oscar (Un ballo in maschera, G.Verdi).

In addition to opera performances, she has performed at the Operosa Festival in 2017 and 2018 and at the "Kotor Art" Festival in 2012 and 2019. Some of her more significant concerts include the "Professor Darinka Matić Marović Tribute with Love" in Herceg Novi in 2020, a solo concert with piano and a string quintet for the Day of the Municipality of the City of Kotor in 2018, and the "Four Sopranos" concert with the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra in CNP under the baton of Maestro Miroslav Homen in 2016.

In 2021, she performed in Italian cities Matera, Acerenza, Gravina, and Bitonto with the works "Stabat Mater" by composers T. Traetta and F. Fenaroli. ,,Stabat Mater” kompozitora: T. Traetta i F. Fenaroli.

She has premiered works by composers Predrag Radisavljević and Nina Perović. She has also acted in musicals such as "White Cranes" and "Njegoš Shining Through the Sky" directed by Ivana Žigon, where she played leading roles. She has worked with and perfected her skills under the guidance of artists such as Olga Makarina, Joan Dornemann, Mignon Dunn, Lucy Arner, Rosmarie Landry, Rainer Armbrust, Hemdi Kfir, Jennifer Larmore, Darina Takova, Daniela de Marco, Marijana Mijanović, Radmila Bakočević, Predrag Gosta, Katherine Haataja, Lilia Ilieva, Ana Zorana Brajović, Miroslav Homen, Darinka Matić Marović, and others.

The winner of numerous awards at domestic and international competitions. Some of the most significant awards include: Award at the International competition "Concorso Internazionale Musica Sacra" in Rome, where she was the youngest participant and won third prize. 2010; First prize at the "Lazar Jovanović" competition in Belgrade, 2021; First prizes at the "Bruna Špiler" competitions (of which she is now the head together with Prof. Milica Milanović), 2008, 2009, and 2010...

She has performed in Canada, Austria, Russia, Greece, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Australia.

She proudly bears the title of "Lady of the Camellias’’ in 2019.
